NORTH ABINGTON, July 19.—The many friends of Ermin M. Gowell of 197 Plymouth street were shocked to learn of his sudden death while visiting friends at Lake Nippenickett in Bridgewater on Saturday. Mr. Gowell, who was a local contractor, stone mason and cement worker, conducted his own business and he had been subject to heart attacks recently. He was 54 years of age and was a native of this town and always resided here. He was the son of Lorenzo W. and Helen (Russell) Gowell and was a member of Winthrop Lodge, I. O. O. F., and of the Howard Club of Brockton.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Katherine (Walker) Gowell; by two daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Curtin of East Weymouth and Mrs. Irene Wilmarth of Quincy; by a grandson, and by a sister, Mrs. Bertha Hines of this town.

Funeral services will be held at his late residence on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock and burial will be in Mount Vernon cemetery.
