MRS. DORA SHANKS, 101, ONE OF OLDEST RESIDENTS OF CITY, DIES

Mrs. Dora E. Shanks, 101, of 77A Rochelle St., a resident of this city for 90 years, died Thursday night at a local nursing home following a long illness. 

The wife of the late John P. Shanks, she was born in Norwell and came to this city in 1880. She was a member of Lincoln Congregational Church and a member of the Rainbow Circle Group. 

She is survived by a daughter, Miss Velma M. Shanks, and a son, John R. Shanks, both of this city; 10 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. 

Rev. G. Wesley Raney, III, of Lincoln Congregational Church, will officiate at the funueral service Monday at 2 P. M. in the Greene Funeral Home, 103 Green St. Interment will be in Melrose Cemetery.

Francisco Pires

PLYMOUTH. — Francisco Pires, a resident of this town for 45 years, died Sunday in a Brockton hospital. He was born in the Cape Verde Islands and came here at an early age. He was employed at the Plymouth Rubber Co. Mr. Pires is survived by a brother, Peter Perry of the Cape Verde Islands and many nieces and nephews. 

The funeral will be Thursday morning from the funeral home, 143 Court street, followed by a high mass of requiem at St. Peter's church at 9 o'clock. Interment will be in St. Joseph's cemetery.
