WHITMAN, March 4.—Mrs. Rilla (Cochran) Dourghety, 72, of 634 Temple street, this town, widow of John Dourghety, died at her home here to-day. She had been in failing health the past two years. She was employed for many years at Storey & Co., store in Brockton and was well liked by many friends.
She was born in Milltown, New Brunswick, a daughter of the late Charles E. and Mary Jane (MacRae) Cochran. She lived in the same house in Whitman for 11 years.
Mrs. Dougherty was a member of the Methodist church in Augusta, Me. She possessed a sterling Christian character and lived a kindly and useful life.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Ellsworth, with whom she made her home in this town, two sons, William E. Dourghety of Haverhill and Charles R. of Dorchester; a sister, Mrs. Howard MacCleave of Hanson; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Tuesday at 2 P. M. at the funeral home, 43 White avenue, Brockton, with interment in Calais cemetery, Calais, Me. Rev. Leonard C. Harris will officiate.
